and driving licenses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>EXTENSION OF THE VALIDITY OF THE ITALIAN DRIVING LICENSE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The holder of an Italian driving license residing in the consular district or residing therein for a period of at least 6 months may obtain from this Consular Office <strong>confirmation of the validity of an Italian driving license<\/strong>, expired no more than five years ago and not falling within the cases provided for in Article 119, paragraphs 2-bis and 4 of the Highway Code (Legislative Decree No. 285 of April 30, 1992).<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, an extension of the expiration date of an Italian driving license may be requested:<\/p>\n<p>1) exclusively by <strong>Italian citizens residing in the consular district of Kuwait<\/strong> \u2013 duly registered in A.I.R.E. or registered in the consular registers for which the A.I.R.E. registration procedure has been initiated \u2013 <strong>or residing in the consular district for a period of at least 6 months<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<p>2) for driving licenses <strong>expired no more than 5 years ago<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<p>3) for <strong>drivers not covered by the cases provided in Article 119, paragraphs 2-bis and 4 of the Highway Code<\/strong> (Legislative Decree No. 285 of April 30, 1992) (Drivers\u2019 licenses suffering from diabetes or whose physical and mental fitness must be certified by appropriate medical commissions);<\/p>\n<p>Please note that renewing the driving license at a consular office <strong>extends its expiration date<\/strong>.\u00a0 However, once the <strong>residency or domicile in Italy is regained<\/strong>, the driving license must be reconfirmed by the competent offices in Italy, even if the renewal made at the consular offices is still valid.<\/p>\n<p>It is necessary to keep and subsequently produce the confirmation certificate together with the driving license.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Procedure for the renewal<\/strong> <strong>application:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1) Obtain, from the Forms section of this Website, the <strong>Form to be submitted to the competent<\/strong> doctor during the medical examination certifying fitness to drive, as well as provide a <strong>personal passport-sized photograph<\/strong> <strong>taken in accordance with the document requirements<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For this purpose, the \u201cDar Al Shifa Hospital\u201d, located in Hawally, is indicated;<\/li>\n<li>Please note that the cost of the medical examination, for the issuance of a medical certificate of fitness to drive, must be <strong>paid by the applicant<\/strong> directly to the doctor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2) <strong>Schedule an appointment at the Consular Office<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>3) At the appointment at the Consular Office, please present the following documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>medical certificate<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>An <strong>Italian identification document <\/strong>(<u>original<\/u>) to be presented to the Consular Office staff <strong>and a copy thereof<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Kuwaiti Civil ID<\/strong> to be presented to the Consular Office staff <strong>and a copy thereof<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>driving license<\/strong> for which confirmation of validity is requested <strong>and a copy thereof<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Confirmation of the validity of the Italian driving license is subject to a <strong>Consular fee, payable in cash at the appointment.<\/strong> The exact amount will be <strong>communicated when booking the
