“Italy supports Kuwait mediation efforts in the Gulf crisis and invites other Countries to do the same, without prejudice,” said Minister Alfano to his interlocutor. “We expect all parties to engage in a fair and open discussion and in keeping with the common goal of reaching soon a negotiated settlement to the dispute”, he added.
Alfano also pointed out to his interlocutor that “it is his intention to take the opportunity offered by these days of consultations on the margins of the General Assembly to raise awareness among the Quartet Countries about the urgent need to remove the blockade against Qatar, also in the light of the unsustainable inconveniences caused to thousands of families”.
Moving on the excellent bilateral relations between the two Countries, which are important also from the economic aspect, Alfano expressed Italy’s great interest in the ‘New Kuwait 2035’ plan. “I am sure that the Italian companies can contribute to the achievement of Kuwait’s goals by providing expertise, experience and know-how in the strategic sectors, namely infrastructure, health and environment” concluded the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
