Thanks to decades of research on Mars carried out by the Italian space system, together with Esa and Nasaalle, a salt water underground lake has been discovered on Mars, using the Italian radar Marsis (Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionosphere Sounding), Mars Express probe. Published on “Science”, the discovery was presented by the Italian Space Agency (Agenzia Spaziale Italiana – ASI), National Institute of Astrophysics (Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica – INAF), Roma Tre University, Sapienza and Gabriele d’Annunzio (Pescara), National Research Council (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche – CNR).
