The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers scholarships to foreign students residing abroad for the academic year 2025-2026, with the aim of promoting cooperation in the cultural, scientific and technological fields, the forecast of the Italian economic system in the world and the diffusion of the Italian language and culture (ref. Law 288/55 and subsequent amendments and additions).
Scholarships are offered to carry out study, training and/or research programs at public or legally recognized Italian educational institutions.
Scholarships are compatible exclusively with the onsite attendance of academic courses on the Italian territory.

The scholarships are open to students of:
- Master’s Degree programmes (Laurea Magistrale, 2° ciclo) – 9 months;
- Higher Education for Fine Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) programmes – 9 months;
- PhD programmes – 9 months;
- Research projects under academic supervision (Progetti in co-tutela) – 9 months;
- Italian language and culture advanced courses – 3 months;
- Bachelor’s Degree (Laurea Triennale, 1° ciclo) or Single Cycle Degree (Laurea magistrale a ciclo unico) programmes – 9 months.
Applications must be sent exclusively through the Study in Italy portal (https://studyinitaly.esteri.it/) by May 16th 2025 at 14.00 (CET).
Applications received after this deadline will not be valid.
Applications can only be submitted by foreign students living abroad holding the academic qualification required for enrollment at the chosen Italian university/institution (for more information: https://studyinitaly.esteri.it/Static/ProcedureIscrizione).
9-month scholarships start on 1 November 2025 and end on 31 July 2026.
3-month scholarships are available from 1 January 2026 and must be completed by 30 September 2026.
